The heck of it is, even by calling Dig-Rite, and even if you're there when the utility marks the site, the stuff is buried .... even they can't always locate it for certain. Lotsa times the excavator hits something that was supposed to be "over there". I have a billboard which was supposed to be 15' from a water main at it's closest point .... but when we augered the SECOND HOLE FROM THE END, and pulled the auger out, the dirt on the side of the hole about 3' down fell away, to reveal an 8" water main. It was OVER 20' from where it was marked.
All Dig-Rite does is absolve liability - but you're right - it could sure be expensive to dig without it, especially with natural gas or fiber optic lines.

Ya know there were 8 people and three supervisors working after hours with an additional heavy equipment operator digging... Plus the new equipment junction they installed.....wonder if the 3rd of July qualifies as a holiday for pay?

The bridge just went over budget......

The blue van isn't parked down the street either...lol

I wouldn't even need a hunting license, and maybe a CCW, except I think they suspected I might be one of those terrorist veterans ....

When is the bridge expected to be completed? I'm sure it will be a great new addition to the city. I know someone in the area that likes to poke fun at it, but he really believes it's a wonderful new addition to the city and hails it a engineering marvel able to withstand a 500 year flood.

Hydrodynamic tunneling, somebody musta been reading the post, they just layed down a reinforced concrete lip upstream to prevent any tunneling...
Or maybe the city worker was wrong? OMG certainly that can't be so!

They are readying the culvert on the school side to bury...

Who said you can't learn something on this site. Heck, hydrodynamic tunneling has been brought out and may have saved the city a lot of money in the long run.
