Default Mach 6 ?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...et-tested.html

The mission will last 300 seconds – the longest the craft has ever flown to date. After the historic test, the plane will crash into the sea, and there are no plans to recover it.

3rd times the charm? Hasn't worked yet. It's a quicker ICBM, getting a nuke from NYC to London in an hour? Just isn't worth the cash, the services are seriously looking to slash costs, to include pay freezes, increases in health insurance premiums and copays.
The thing is a flying needle, never will carry anything bigger than a mini nuke...

Stupid.

That's how it looks to me. A human couldn't stand the G's accelerating up to speed, then you'd no sooner get up to speed than you'd be scraping yerself off the seatback in front of you during deceleration. And BTW, what kinda brakes have they devised for this li'l firework? I mean, besides crashing into the ground, or the ocean, or something else adequately resistant? Looks like a way for a lot of VERY highly-paid educated types to justify their existence. I personally mind that a LOT more than I mind businessmen being highly successful (read: very rich) producing useful products for consumption by the masses.

Well, the li'l scramjet became a "scrapjet" a bit before it was supposed to - didn't work out so well. Might oughta hold off on seating arrangements for passengers for a while ...

Hmm
Test pilot a scramjet engine?
Nah!
You'd end up "Spam in a can"

Love that line from movie "The Right Stuff"
It was allegedly said by Chuck Yeager about the Mercury Astronauts
A group he was not invited to join due to his lack of education.
This deficiency was corrected on his resume which now includes degrees in aerospace and aeronautical sciences as well as Commander of the U S Air Forces test pilot school at Edwards Air Force Base.

Ummm Do I have a hero?
Damn straight skippy....lol
