Default Cableamerica.

The only game in town and they know it.
In the past three months my rates went from $79.00 to $86.00 to $102.
I understand the initial bribery start for top of line internet was 79 and when it ran out it went to 86 but another $16 increase for the following month? When I went to see the clerk under glass. When clerks are behind plexiglass it tells me there are a lot of dissatisfied customers. She explained that it was a mistake in her billing department and that the additional 16 was prorated from the previous month.
HOWEVER: I could start ANOTHER 12 month bribery start offer for - low monthly AND get 50mbps.
Sure sign me up
It will take a bit for the techs to switch you over to 50mbps.
Ok
So I waited and checked
Day one nuttin, day 2 nuttin, day three nuttin...(?)ok I have autopay maybe they are waiting for that...day seven nuttin and they took $102 bucks..
Day eight, Back to see clerk under glass. She called the tech section, it should be working
Should
Got home an hour later, still 20mbps. Called tech section myself. After an hour during which I rebooted the modem FIVE times, checked line code in terminal mode (dos for you Windows geeks) the tech arranged a home visit fo the next day TODAY sometime after Noon. At noon got a call from cableamerica.
Would you mind if we rescheduled today's visit til Monday?
Yes indeed I would!, that would be eleven days to get service. I will be here til 7 pm....at which point I was talking to a dial tone.
WTF? So I'm still waiting at 4:15...
I wonder if anyone at cableamerica would be irate if instead of payday on the first they got checks on the 12th?

The guy showed up at 5:02, looked at it, scratched his head... I went into the computer checked the network settings, plugged the modem directly into the computer. Hit diagnose, rest to factory. Voila! Fixed! Plugged the modem to the router... Back to 20. Guy left.
I sent a scathing email to cableamerica at 5:00 so it wasn't a waste at this point.
Could not get internet online setting to work speeding up the router.
Sigh
Internet chat with linksys.... India branch.
After two hours, router was fried, under warranty. I pay freight ONCE I get a RMA. They send me a remanufactured router.
In the meantime...I'm pounding sand
Walmart is open 24 hours, and they have beer.
Happy ending
Lol

The wrong MAC address fried it I think

And the whole reason I went 50Mbps?
Amazon, streaming 4K series. "The Man In The High Castle"
Amazing. I read the book and it was hard to visualize a 1960's era America where the German Reich controls eastern America to the Rockies foothills and the Japanese control the western United States to the Rockies... A small underground US force is operating out of the Rockies.
Truck driver out of New York stops in Missouri with a flat. The local Sheriff with obligatory swastika armband helps change the tire, when done it starts to "snow" in july(?).
Yeah the Sheriff explains. "The States Hospital kills and cremates the lame and undesirables every other Tuesday".

Yeah I have two seasons worth of binge watching to do
