Default U.S.Air Force

The Air Force recently spent 55,000 man hours bringing back a bomber from the land of the dead. A B-52h was damaged in Louisiana two years ago. So severely it was parted out and dropped from the rolls. However the Airforce decided it needed it replaced. The call went out to Davis Montham Air Force base in Arizona.
The dreaded boneyard of retired and excess aircraft left to die out in the dry desert. Mothballed and cocooned they wait for sale to foreign governments, or destruction or being used for spare parts..
This time the call went out to refurbish and get a B-52h back to life...

Ghost Rider is a very appropriate name for this B-52 a 61 year old bird given a second life.

It took 45,000 man hours to bring it back to life, I wonder how much dollar wise that adds up to?

45,000 m/h, or 55,000 m/h?

45 at a GS7 rate of 16.77 base per hour.
$754,650, not bad.

With the governments buying of overpriced parts that wouldn't be a bad price if that is close to actual dollar amount that you have put forth in your estimate.

Heck yeah, you can spend nearly that much on a single-engine, 4 seat prop plane!
