If the system has been down that long I would imagine all the giveaway food pantries that the church's run and the salvation army, have bare shelves.

So Congress strikes yet again.. when I retired I had been promised numerous times as an enticement to re-enlist that me and my eligible family members would have free healthcare for life.
One month before I was medically retired, Congress with a pen and a phone said nope, no free healthcare for you, you get to pay.

And now as a 100% medically disabled veteran Congress yet again breaks out a pen and a phone and is planning to cut my retirement disability to less than half its current value.

Well, that was a waste of twenty two years...
Shoulda been a banker.

You gotta be pooin' me. What the heck did I ever do to Congress? Why me?
--------
I want to know if food stamps welfare payments or social security checks are gonna be halved..
Uh huh..thought so.

I hear you MKPA. If my memory is correct one of the reasons retirees pushed it so hard was because other Federal employees get both without any complaints and they didn't have to deal with the things most military personnel have had too. Plus 139 billion is just a drop in the bucket over an 8 year period when you're talking some of the other spending going on in the federal government. Heck, I would think Congressional retirement benefits far outweigh that figure on a yearly basis. I suggest they take a look at their own benefits before they start looking to steal from military retirees. Heck, I think everyone should get the same benefit and not start it a 50 percent, because it's only fair.

We military retiree's, as a very large voting block should rise up and fight this to the end to make sure these people in Washington, D.C. understand we have a good amount of pull as well and we also have long memories.

There can be only one. No not from the Movie Highlander.
The US navy has been on the hook.
How can there be two USS Enterprises? While the futuristic destroyer was being built and even during trials I noted the Aircraft Carrier of the same name was still flying off aircraft..
Today it was announced the carrier was decommissioned.

Which in Pentagon speak means:

We finally cleared up the engine problems and can afford the high tech gun ammunition for the new destroyer to pass its sea trials and be accepted into the fleet....

*five years later than originally intended.
The Carrier was announced to be slated for decommissioning five years ago in 2012.

Update' after three months my congressman's office got back to me.
'It's only a projection'
Hold up Sparky. If the proposal ever came before her as a bill would she support it?
'But it's only a proposal'
Would she or would she not?
'Well, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't'
That's all ya got Sparky, pretty sure?
'That's all I will commit to'
Well I'm pretty sure what I'm gonna do when she runs for office again
And that's all I will commit to.

Politicians. Sheez

I say that any Representative or Senator that votes YES for any of this should be voted out of office by the veteran's of the state they come from. We MUST stand on principle and fight for our rights. I have, for too many years, watch the government try and balance the budget off of my back. I remember pay freezes while in uniform when I wasn't making much to start with and dealing with a heck of a lot being all over the world serving this country. We need to make damn sure we stand up for our benefits and rights and not allow these politicians to try and balance the budget on our backs again. Matter a fact, every time they did it in the past they didn't balance anything, they just messes us over and still spent more money then they brought in. That must stop today!
