Default Blaze off Highway 28 considered suspicious, local firefighters say

Firefighters work to extinguish a blaze on Happy Drive.

Blaze off Highway 28 considered suspicious, local firefighters say
SAINT ROBERT, Mo. (March 1, 2010) — Fire destroyed a vacant mobile home four miles north of Exit 163 Monday evening. The cause of the blaze is unknown and the incident is considered suspicious, according to Waynesville Deputy Fire Chief Andy Baker. “It was fully involved when the people called it in,” Baker said. “When we arrived, the front end was collapsing in.” The fire on Happy Drive off Highway 28 left little standing of the small 14x70 foot mobile home. Baker said nobody was inside the unit at the time of the blaze. Click here to read more on Pulaski County Daily News ...

If your looking for Happy Lane. It is only one 1 1/2 miles north on highway 28. Turn left just after BIG Daddy's. Oh and less then 1/4 mile before the (fire department substation) next to the machine shop. To bad the station is not man'ed 24/7 that might have saved the house.

Yep, I was out there on Monday. However, I relied on the verbal statement on the scanner about the distance from I-44 and did not measure it myself with the odometer.

Thank you for the alert on the mileage issue.

If it was fully involved when the call was made, it's just best to let it burn itself out. There's less mess to clean up.

Even if the fire brigade we a mile away, a fully involved structure? Not gonna' be anything worth investigating really. That is if my idea of "fully involved" is the same as what was reported. (30 foot flames coming from every fecade, sparks filling the night sky, a confused/surprised looking neighbor in a nightgown [who should not be seen in a night gown] describing the events to local authorities and news crews, etc.)
